Hinduism
The fetus is considered a person from the time of conception. The moment of conception marks the rebirth of an individual who has lived multiple lives previously. Frequent prayers during pregnancy are necessary for the development of a healthy child.[10]
No religious requirements for a fetus delivered at less than seven months gestation. The soul is thought to enter the body at seven months gestation and therefore, requires appropriate death and funeral rites.[10]
Elective Pregnancy Termination: No restrictions. However, individual attitudes vary. Some Hindus believe that pregnancy termination sends the soul back to the cycle of rebirth.10, 12
Amniocentesis: Acceptable
Birth Control: No restrictions.
Circumcision: Acceptable. No special rituals.
